Kuwait to invite bids for new labour city

Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP) will soon invite bids for a project to build a new city for expatriate workers in Kuwait.

The city, to be developed in the Al Jahra governorate in the north of the country, will accommodate nearly 20,000 labourers, said a report attributed to the state news agency KUNA.

“The ‘Al Jahra labour city’ would be the first such project to be offered as a joint partnership with the private sector,” stated Kuwait’s Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Mohammed Al Jabri. The project would be completed in 2021, he added.

Under the terms, Kuwait Municipality will be responsible for providing water, electricity, sewage and roads infrastructure connecting to the project.
